SML Tekstil San., also known as SML Seamless, was established in 2006 and has since become a global manufacturer of numerous private label clothing products. With its headquarters located in Istanbul, the company boasts production lines in four distinct cities, including the Kırklareli industrial zone, Çerkezköy industrial zone, and Kastamonu province.

SML Seamless has been delivering to the needs of online brands and sales platforms, as well as the broader retail sector. The company takes pride in its end-to-end manufacturing process, producing everything from yarn to packaged products entirely within its own facilities.

Challenges

SML was struggling to keep track of complex business processes using multiple software. Their intricate production processes, which are inherent to the textile sector, demanded a more streamlined approach and precise tracking mechanisms.

Specifically, they needed better automation for processes in the production department, such as production planning and raw material inventory management. Additionally, there was a need for improved integration in the finance sector, especially concerning accounting, financial results, and costing processes.

What was done

With the enhancements in 1C:Drive, managing multiple processes on one platform became possible.

All technical details for every product size are now entered into a unified document structure. This allows for the automatic generation of bulk recipes based on the colors listed in the sales order. 
Before starting production, consumption calculations are made using these bulk product recipes, enabling the automatic creation of necessary purchase orders.
For knitting machine scheduling, a dynamic planning system was introduced. It adjusts the projected end date based on factors like breakdowns, maintenance, holds, and replacements, aiming to closely match the actual end date. This system also factors in working days, including holidays. 
A machine history log was maintained, and a visual gantt chart was developed from this data, providing a clear and user-friendly planning interface.
Upon specific user requests, the same Excel views were integrated into the 1C:Drive framework, enhancing customization and boosting customer satisfaction. 
Efforts are underway to make all accounting processes template-driven. The goal is to establish a more automated accounting system centered around these templates.

Results

Production processes became more efficient, reducing manual interventions and errors.
The dynamic planning system based on various factors and providing a visual gantt chart has led to more accurate and timely production schedules, closely aligning with actual end dates.
Template-driven accounting processes have resulted in an improved user experience, leading to increased customer satisfaction and more efficient accounting operations.
Over the course of two years, 100 seats were automated.
