Eratlar Makina is a manufacturing company based in Istanbul, specializing in the design and production of plastic injection molding machines.

The company produces both standard and custom machines ranging from 35 to 320 tons. Its business model is fully make-to-order, meaning each machine is built for a specific customer requirement.

Despite strong engineering expertise, most daily operations were managed manually — relying on Excel files, WhatsApp communication, and personal experience rather than structured systems.

Project Background

This project was implemented by the SmartBase team — a group of young specialists who completed the 1Ci Low-Code ERP Training for Software Developers.

During the program, participants learned to develop business applications on the 1C:Enterprise low-code platform, combining technical skills with an understanding of real ERP processes. Shortly after completing the training, the team was able to put this knowledge into practice by taking on a real implementation project using 1C:Jet.

Before development began, SmartBase conducted a comprehensive business assessment, gathering, analyzing, and documenting Eratlar Makina's requirements. This resulted in a detailed requirements document that provided a clear foundation for the implementation.

The project demonstrated how quickly the team progressed from training to professional practice: applying a structured approach from business analysis and requirements gathering to the development of a working solution addressing the customer's real operational needs.

Challenges

As the company continued to operate in a fully manual environment, several critical challenges emerged:

Lack of cost transparency: The company could not accurately determine the cost or profitability of each machine.
Fragmented operational processes: Sales, procurement, and production were managed across disconnected tools such as Excel, WhatsApp, and handwritten notes.
No structured production tracking: There was no formal production order system; all progress was tracked verbally.
Limited control over subcontractors: External operations such as CNC machining and coating were not systematically tracked.
No reporting or analytics: It was impossible to generate reports on sales, costs, or supplier performance.
Disconnected accounting and operations: Financial data was stored in an accounting system, but had no link to actual production processes. 

As a result, decision-making was largely based on experience rather than data.

Solution

Eratlar Makina needed a system that would bring structure and visibility to operations — without introducing the complexity of a full-scale ERP.

After analyzing the requirements, the company chose 1C:Jet, a flexible low-code solution that allowed building a solution tailored exactly to its processes.

1C:Jet Implementation

The implemented solution focused on building a lightweight, practical operational model:

Centralized Production Orders
Each machine is managed through a single Production Order that includes:
• customer information
• machine model
• delivery timeline
• all related purchases and operations
This became the core object of the system.
Automated Cost and Profit Calculation
The system automatically calculates:
• total material costs
• external operation costs
• total production cost
• sales revenue
• estimated profit per machine
Cost Tracking Without Inventory Complexity
Instead of implementing full inventory management, the system tracks costs directly through:
• supplier invoices
• external services
This approach significantly simplified the system while still ensuring full cost visibility.
Daily Operational Control
A “Daily Tasks” dashboard provides a clear overview of:
• urgent production orders
• pending subcontracted work
• missing invoices
• completed but not invoiced orders
Subcontractor Management
A dedicated structure for external operations was introduced:
• tracking CNC, coating, and other outsourced work
• monitoring statuses (sent / received / completed)
• linking costs to specific orders
Integration Readiness
The solution is prepared for integration with Turkey’s e-invoicing system (GİB), enabling further automation in future phases.

Results

After implementing 1C:Jet, Eratlar Makina achieved:

Full cost transparency. The company can now calculate the cost and profitability of each machine.
Structured operations. All business processes — from procurement to production — are linked within a single system.
Improved control over subcontractors. External operations are now fully visible and manageable.
Reduced operational chaos. Manual communication via WhatsApp has been replaced with structured workflows.
Data-driven decision-making. The owner can now rely on real data.
Scalability for future growth. The system can be expanded with: inventory management, production stages, financial modules.

The project demonstrated that digital transformation does not always require a complex ERP implementation. By focusing on key business processes and structuring them properly, Eratlar Makina successfully transitioned from fragmented operations to a centralized, data-driven system. With 1C:Jet, an open-source software the company built a strong digital foundation — ready to support future growth without unnecessary complexity.
